Commercial Box Gutters in Bala Cynwyd, PA

Commercial Box Gutters in Bala Cynwyd, PA

Commercial buildings shed far more water than a house. A flat or low-slope roof on a strip mall, warehouse or apartment block can drain thousands of square feet to one edge. Standard 5-inch residential gutters cannot keep up, so commercial work uses box gutters.

A commercial box gutter is a square or rectangular trough, often 7 or 8 inches wide or larger, formed from heavier gauge aluminum or galvanized steel. It is usually fed by scuppers, openings in the parapet wall that let water spill off the roof into a conductor head and down a large downspout. Downspouts on commercial jobs are typically 4x5 or 6-inch round to match the flow.

Bala Cynwyd, PA Gutter Installation crews in Bala Cynwyd, PA fabricate box gutters in long seamless lengths where possible, fasten them with heavy strap hangers, and seal any joints with rivets plus a commercial-grade sealant. On built-in box gutters that sit inside the roof line, a membrane liner is sometimes the better repair than replacing the metal.

Typical commercial gutter work:

• New box gutter and scupper installation
• Conductor head and downspout upsizing
• Re-lining leaking built-in gutters
• Gutter guards for buildings under trees
